The animal (fox, wolf, leopard) runs along the coast, and fish (burbot, goby) swims in the water. The animal calls out to the fish, and it is always ahead (usually places other fish at a distance, but in the non-gidal version, the competition motif is omitted).

Tuvans, Nganasans, Buryats, Western and Baikal Evenks, Northwestern (Essey) Yakuts, Negidals, Forest Yukaghirs, Chuvans, Asian Eskimos.

Southern Siberia - Mongolia.
